The Jewish holiday of Pesach in Birobidzhan was marked by the unique ritual "Birkat ha Hama" - the blessing of the Sun. As reported by the correspondent of RIA "Vostok-Media", the ceremony was held in a traditional manner, on the 8th of April, in the courtyard of the Birobijan synagogue.
According to Jewish tradition, 5769 years ago, the Lord created the Sun, stars and moon. Every 28 years the sun returns to where it was placed in the process of Creation. The moment for the blessing comes when the entire solar disk is visible, but in this case it is necessary to use solar filters or tinted glass.
"Such an event occurring in the Far East, especially in Birobijan, and in the rest of Russia, is very impressive," said the Chief Rabbi Mordechai Scheiner. "I will never forget this. We must continue the traditions taught by our parents, and pass them to our children".
