Cantor Music Festival in Minsk
14.04.2009
In the Republican Palace of Veterans, the Fifth International Festival of Cantor Music took place.
As Ludmila Dorofeeva, coordinator of the cultural and musical programs of "Emuna" Jewish cultural society and one of the initiators of the festival, told the Jewish News agency, the audience welcomed their favorite singers of Jewish sacred music, among them Anatoly Nalivaev, Ilya Pevzner, Vera Hoffman, and many others.
Keeping the tradition to invite guests on Pesach, the organizers of the festival included in the program the performance of the specially invited cantor from the US.
A crowded room (the festival was attended by about 400 people, mostly youth) warmly welcomed the performers of sacred music. The event finished with honoring Anatoly Nalivaev, who for many years has been painstakingly collecting samples of cantor art, which were prohibited in the Soviet times.
