17.05.2009
An Internet project has been developed in a St. Petersburg synagogue. It allows to find the grave of a relative and monitor its condition through the network from anywhere in the world.
As the Portal-Credo.Ru journalist found out from the project manager Moyshe Treskunov, finding a tomb from the Preobrazhensky Jewish cemetery has been made easy through the use of a search engine on the site www. Jekl.ru.
The picture of the burial, the number, and the site plan will appear on the screen. Soon it will be possible to request a service: for the caretakers to pay special attention to a particular grave. "Having evaluated its condition, you can request services from cleaning to
restoration, paying via bank transfer," noted Treskunov.
The project emerged as a result of numerous requests of relatives of the buried, living in other cities of Russia and abroad. Especially big number of requests to find the tomb comes from Russian Jewish emigrants from the United States and Israel.
