Repatriates Have No Vacation Money: Results of "Cursor" Poll
09.06.2009
Less than half of the repatriates from the former Soviet Union plan to have a vacation this summer. In doing so, 55% admitted that the economic crisis has a direct influence on the decision.
These are the results of voting held by "Cursor" in the period from May 31 to June 7. A total of 2117 respondents took part in the survey, of whom 2089 answered to all questions.
In determining how the economic crisis affects the "opportunity to travel," 24% of the respondents stated that they have to refuse the notion of rest completely. Another 20% admitted that they are now choosing cheaper tours and hotels, and 7% will spend a vacation in Israel, although they used to travel abroad.
In general, 25% of survey participants intend to spend a vacation in Israel, 31% - overseas, while 23% will rest both in Israel and abroad.
The most popular routes with the respondents will be Russia and the CIS countries (12%), Western Europe (10%) and the United States (7%).
However, a significant portion of the respondents believe that the future expenses will total to 1-3 thousand dollars. Only 13% can pay more.
In assessing their material state, only 14% described it as good or very good, but more than a third - as bad or very bad.
Curiously, however, that most of the immigrants spontaneously decide on the vacation, choosing only at the last moment, when and where they want to go. Perhaps that is why the services of travel agencies are used only by 30% of respondents, whereas previously the figure was much higher.
