                  Farewell meeting with the Israeli ambassador to Belarus

                  August 23 at the Minsk Jewish Community House, Yosef Shagal, Ambassador of Israel to the Republic of Belarus met with representatives of Jewish organizations and communities of Belarus on the occasion of completion of his term.
                  Boris Gersten, Chairman of the Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities, a member of the EAJC General Council, expressed his gratitude to Yosef Shagal for everything that was done to the Jewish community of Belarus during his cadence. "Thanks to you and your efforts, relations between Belarus and Israel have improved markedly", he said.
                  Shagal, summing up the results of ihiswork in Belarus, said: "The strategic interests of Israel is a prosperity and security of the Jewish communities. Israel is too small to accommodate all the Jews, so their life, wherever that may be, must be safe, and I managed this task. We have strengthened the authority of the Jewish community in Belarus."
                  In parting, Shagal presented a project of the Museum of Memory and Tolerance. The idea of the project is to perpetuate the memory of the Righteous among the Nations.
