Michael Chlenov, Secretary General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) paid a working visit to Kosovo. In Prizren, he met with Votim Demiri, President of the Jewish Community of Kosovo.
A few months ago leadership of the Kosovo community sent to the EAJC a letter, expressing a willingness to join the Congress. After a series of discussions, the EAJC Presidium made a decision to accept Kosovo's community in the EAJC in the status of an observer with the right to participate in the small communities’ assistance program, carried out by the Congress.
In the presence of specially assembled community members, EAJC Secretary General solemnly handed Votim Demiri a document certifying the acceptance of the community in the EAJC, and congratulated him. In the ensuing discussion Chlenov informed the representatives of the Kosovo community on the EAJC activities and programs. Demiri told about the history and activities of the community, which brings together, in his words, about fifty people.
The meeting was attended by Yasha Alfandari, President of the Jewish community in Montenegro, a member of the EAJC General Council.
