A summer school on the history of the Holocaust in Ukraine will be conducted in Mykolaiv (Ukraine) on June 25-30.
The seminar is aimed at Ukrainian school teachers of history and other social disciplines. It will cover different aspects of the history of the Holocaust in Ukraine and Europe, particularly: the policies of totalitarian regimes, the Nazi genocide of the Jews, the resistance movement, Ukrainian-Jewish relations in the Interwar period and during the Holocaust, the ideology of Nazi antisemitism, interdisciplinary approaches to the history of the Holocaust, and other genocides commited during World War II and other periods of contemporary history. Additionally, approaches to teaching the history of the Holocaust in schools will be discussed.
The seminar will be conducted by the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies (Director - Euro-Asian Jewish Congress General Council member, Dr. Anatoliy Podolsky), together with the Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Center (Israel) and the support of the Kyiv office of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress and the Embassy of Israel in Ukraine.
