On Support for the “Matzot for Jews of Eurasia” Program

Dear Mr. Mirilashvili,
For over a decade and a half the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress has provided matzot for members of the FSU Jewish community in need and provided financial aid to the EAJC Jewish communities in Eastern Europe.
As it is is said in the Torah, “In the evening, you shall eat matzot” (Shemot 12:18). Thanks to the EAJC, Jews of Eurasia were able to fulfill this commandment! Perhaps you are not aware that out of all the FSU countries whose communities are EAJC members, only two produce their own matzot: Ukraine and Russia. Additionally, matzot produced in Ukraine, specifically in Kyiv, is cheaper than Russian matzot for a number of objective reasons. This is why, for all of these years, the EAJC Kyiv office has organized a way to provide Kyiv matzot to communities in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Belarus, Moldova, part of Russia, and Ukraine. This means that approximately 45, and even up to 50 thousand boxes with symbols of the EAJC and a greeting from the President had been part and parcel of the celebrations of Eurasian Jews. This is the very reputation of the EAJC and its President!
The implementation of this program is a complex process. Preparing the matzot is, perhaps, the easiest part. The logistics are usually much more difficult. However, we were always able to solve these issues and ensured a timely delivery of the matzot. But all of this needs time!
Your extended silence, or lack of will to continue this program, will lead to a number of Jews being quite unable to fulfill one of the most important commandments for Pesach. You must understand this!
Our project was approved by the EAJC Program Commission. A detailed description of the project has been at the Israel office of the EAJC since November 2017.
I hope that you and the esteemed EAJC Vice Presidents will finally break this extended silence and make a positive decision. We are running out of time!
